Idea

Time is sacred and no unimportant disturbance is allowed. But in our modern society, we can't help but feel connected to our phone and the fear of missing out on important notifications. With The Focus Box, you have the control of determining which notifications are important to you.

Function

Before placing your smartphone in The Focus Box, you choose your light-up-notifications and the color of the light. Light-up-notifications are your personally chosen notifications that will light up the box. The box also wirelessly charges your phone.

Creation

Prototype

We have built the first prototype of The Focus Box and tested the esthetics and placements. Our technical demands have been approved, both hardware and software. And it is ready to go into production after the crowdfunding campaign.

Co-Creation

Because The Focus Box is family-focused, we will be reaching out to our followers to gain an even better insight into design, purpose, functionality, and focus. We will be doing surveys, focus groups, and more to end up with an even better product before launching on Kickstarter.

Just us

We are Sandra and Lars. 

We live 30 minutes north of Copenhagen with our three lovely girls Inge, Solvej, and Alice.


We are both born and raised on a small island in the Baltic Sea called Bornholm. We are both digital immigrants and remember our childhood without digital disturbance. And we miss those times. We have started Ertholm because we want to give our childhood experiences back to our children. Family dinners and vacations where everyone was present and aware.

In the easternmost part of Denmark - a short sailing trip from Bornholm - lies Ertholmene, a small group of rocky islands. Here are high ceilings, fresh air, peace, and quiet. The archipelago has even been named one of Denmark's most beautiful. Here, even the smallest stone is protected - just as leisure time should be, away from the stressful and online everyday life where emails and notifications are continually ticking in.

This all comes together to make your phone a less distracting device so you can work, spend time with your family, or simply enjoy the little things without your phone constantly annoying you. However, we can't bring it to market by ourselves. We need your help to bring this life-changing device to consumers around the world, and that's why we've taken our funding efforts to Kickstarter.
